You will not read of this in all mainstream newspapers as only two reporters turned up for the event although an invitation was sent out to all of our media contacts. Reports of a DAP assemblyman contributing to mosques and suraus for Ramadan is taboo for Utusan Malaysia and the likes. I use my annual state allocation to help my constituents regardless of their race, religion or political affiliation.
There is absolutely no need to label mosques or suraus as pro-Pakatan or pro-UMNO. As long as the mosque or surau is a genuine place of worship that serves its community, opens its doors to all and is duly recognised by Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS), it is entitled to my constituency allocation.
Meeting my constituents at Ramadan bazaar
Last weekend, I visited the Ramadan bazaars at SS18 and USJ 4. I wanted to meet the traders and residents.
This year MPSJ has set new rules requiring traders:
(1) to have standardised MPSJ canopies
(2) to dismantle their canopies and pack up their stalls daily after trading.
(1) to have standardised MPSJ canopies
(2) to dismantle their canopies and pack up their stalls daily after trading.
This is to promote cleanliness. Some residents have informed me that this new rule is a step forward as it promotes good hygiene. Before issuing the licences for the bazaar, MPSJ conducted a briefing for all interested traders and they were all briefed on the do's and don'ts to ensure that this year's Ramadan bazaars operate more efficiently and orderly.
The police officers from SS17 and USJ 8 police stations were also present to give out Balik Kampung Rumah Selamat forms for anyone who will be away during the festive seasons. This festive program is one of the many ways to fight crime in our neighbourhood and I hope more residents will take advantage of this program by the police.
Meeting my constituents
This is the posting on the Community Day organised by Kawasan Rukun Tetangga PJS 9. There was a strong crowd present that night. Behind me (picture above) is the newly constructed resting area ("wakaf") initiated by JKP Zone 2 led by MPSJ councillor Ken Chia. The residents in Bandar Sunway are very pleased to have Ken Chia reappointed for the second term to continue serving them.
I also utilised my state allocation to purchase 4 bicycles equipped with head lights, tail lights and bottle holders for the residents' patrol team. Few months ago, I have also purchased safety vests and walkie talkie for them.
Others members of JKP Zone 2 were also present including representatives from PJS 7 and Sunway Tiara. Former chairman, Richard Leow and current chairman Balakrishnan A/L Arumugam of Bandar Sunway Residents' Association were also present to show their support. Mr Muniandy of Jabatan Perpaduan Negara Dan Integrasi Nasional also attended the event.

Ramadan contribution to mosques and suraus
Early Saturday morning, we had a simple ceremony at Sekolah Agama Masjid Darul Ehsan, SS15 Subang Jaya to present cheques to the 5 mosques and 14 suraus in DUN Subang Jaya for the month of Ramadan. I allocated RM2000 for each mosque and RM1000 for each surau from my annual state constituency allocation to assist them in their month-long 'buka puasa' programmes. This is in addition to other allocations which I have set aside for the single mothers and orphans who are also observing Ramadan. Below are some photos of the ceremony:

SELCAT public hearing on use of allocation by former BN assemblymen
I am currently at the public hearing conducted by SELCAT on the use of allocation by all former BN assemblymen. Each assemblyman has used up RM500,000 per DUN from January to February 2008 (in 2 months). This RM500,000 was supposed to be used for the entire duration of year 2008.

Officers from Petaling Land Office who approved these transactions are being questioned now. For Subang Jaya, it was revealed that our former assemblyman has submitted applications for allocation even after the March 8 elections. Some funds were used for programs outside of Subang Jaya. For some other constituencies, it was revealed that funds were disbursed to former BN assemblymen even after our Menteri Besar has taken oath for the new administration. Clearly, these funds were used as campaign funds for the elections. Taxpayers' funds were used to advance their political parties' interests for UMNO, MIC, Puteri UMNO and MCA events. Satu lagi projek Barisan Nasional!
And on the other hand, we have MACC investigating us the PR assemblymen for legitimate applications for legitimate programs used for the benefit of residents.
